!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I have been speculating that the 4-cyl S upra will start around $33,000 and the 6-cyl will start right around $39,000. But I’m curious if any of you are starting to rethink pricing for the A90 now that there is actual information coming out? As for the Z4, I’m not so solid on that car.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I also continue to believe that a mild-hybrid powertrain is coming soon after launch if not right on it which is the reason the car is taking extra time (especially with Gazoo being handed the car late in the game). It would also work with why the Supra may not receive a manual transmission (though I still think that it will appear the following model year if this is NOT a 48v car ).

Im betting on a performance mi ld-hybrid powertrain being the point of BMW and Toyota partnering . Especially for the 4-cyl engine which I think Toyota will source for their own cars including the Lex us lineup rather than taking their own turbo four to the level just past a belt-d riven starter generator.

This source says it’s the B48 and B58... unless you’re talking about the mild hybrid.

I’m guessing your estimates are a bit low. I’ll go on record with the 4cyl in the mid to upper 30's and the 6 in the mid 40's. Let’s say... $36,000 and $46,000.

Also, I kind of lost interest in Supra news so maybe I missed this, but is it more-or-less gaurenteed at this point that it will be auto only?

*sadface*

This would be like if Mazda had unveiled the ND Miata as an auto only. Such a poor choice

No, it’s more like mazda canceling the Miata and rebadging a compact crossover the ‘Miata XL’.

That’s totally happening after sports cars are killed off, by the way.

More than it should. Probably more like 38/48.

This has flop written all over it.

I think Toyota guys were saying that it won’t be a cheap car. So it has to be notably (+ 5 0 % ? ) more than BRZ/GT86 h a v e b e e n p r i c e d .

Somehow I don’t see Mazda pulling a Mitsu.

That said, a Miata crossover following jinba ittai could be pretty cool. Budget Macan?

Too much at any price they’ll sell it at since i t’ll have BMW engines, so it will be an unreliable pile of shit.

I don’t see why it would be significantl y cheaper than a pretty much identical Z5, which itself will be horribly overpriced for the times. I don’t see this succeeding as a Toyota, and it would be head to head with the R C at Lexus, so I don’t see the point.

Really I think it comes down to coupes and convertibles being seen as overpriced now . Whereas before you had buyers looking for maximum style and willing to pay for it, people today are looking for great all-around vehicles and don’t care for ‘sexiness’ or ‘soul’ nearly as much. Why should the less functional version cost way more? This has probably come about because of both younger people owning fewer vehicles and more mainstream, functional vehicles becoming sporty enough for the vast majority of people.

BTW a 440i convertible starts at a ridiculous $60,000 nowadays, I had no idea.

When did this happen?

Also the Cayman starts at $ 57k.

$42K 4-Cyl, $49,500 6-Cyl, $57,500 Z4/5.

100% shot in the dark but regardless of pricing (unless it’s super affordable - which it won’t be) it’s going to flop. I feel like this is going to one huge swing and a miss (for the Supra, the Z4/5 will probably do fine) .

I think that’s an  idea behind the cx-4 rumor, but tariffs will kill that off.

Exactly!

The Boxster/Cayman used to be cheap for a Porsche, and then the Macan showed up. Now it’s much harder for anybody who is going to only have one car to go for the coupe:

I honestly think $33k is way too low for the new Supra, Subaru would throw a fit as that’s BRZ-pricing there.

My totally-based-on-nothing opinion is the Supra 4cyl will start in the $39-42 k range, with the 6cyl in the $49-52k range and the Z5 starting around $55-57k. If there is a mild-hybrid, which I also think is super likely, it will be in the mid-$60k range.

There needs to be a gap between the FRS/BRZ as to not cannibalize sales of those two, and I can’t see the Supra being above the Z5 in pricing. Still going to be a tough sale for the Supra and I think the hype is already dying out.
